The simple way to approach a painting...šā
ā
- Sketching out the basic idea and shapesā
ā
- Put down the mid tone local colors. Ignore the highlights and shadows for now, just focus on finding the most accurate mid toneā
ā
- Put down basic shade for light surfaces and shadow surfaces. Find the mid tone for the light area, be aware of the color of the light which will have a impact on the colorā
ā
- Find the mid tone for the shadow. Same, be aware of the tone of the shadow. In general, if the light is warm, you want cool shadows, vice versaā
ā
- Now render the image. If the general tones make sense, it's just a matter of mixing what is already there. Adding detailsā
ā
- I always color correct the image a bit using curves, then everything becomes red....š
